Zandra Rhodes Biopic
A recreation of one of Zandra Rhodes 'Cactus Everywhere' kaftan dresses from her Cactus Cowboy collection (Spring/Summer 1976). Constructed using hand dyed pink silk chiffon and decorated with flower and pearl beads. It includes a satin belt with a fake knot detail.
Research and Techniques
Using the original 'Cactus Everywhere' kaftan as reference, made a costume illustration as a starting point. After examining the collection and consulting with industry professionals, chose the appropriate materials for the project.
Silk-screens with a recreation of 'Cactus Everywhere' were used for printing. A combination of reactive and pigment dyes was used for the desired colourway.
Special care was taken after washing the silk to make sure it retained its original dimensions (combination of stretching and pining to prepared surface).
